I was born in Santa Monica California, and bounced around between Berlin, Washington D.C and Los Angeles in my youth. I am a music fanatic. I've studied music my whole life and still consider myself a student.
About 25 years ago, after a brief but life-changing stint at UCLA under the tutelage of the incomparable Lee Sanders, I got my start composing for TV shows. I was a quick study and soon got in with Vanacore Music, Immediate Music, and later BMG, and Universal. At this point, I've written over 6,000 tracks in every style you can imagine for over 800 shows. There has rarely been a dull moment with the creative challenges and tight deadlines, but it's been a truly fulfilling journey on all levels.
In addition to composing for TV shows, I have been a touring musician since 1987, most notably as guitarist of the Iconic Los Angeles band, Fishbone. I have also been producing my own original music for several years now under the moniker The Black Operator (link that). I’m excited to say there will be a new release in 2026. In addition to new original music, The Black Operator will also be releasing collabs of iconic songs through Brentwood Media Partners (link that).
